MATERIAL GUIDE: SOLID GOLD, GOLD FILLED, GOLD VERMEIL AND GOLD PLATED JEWELRY EXPLAINED

Solid Gold
Needless to say, solid gold jewelry does not oxidize/discolor allowing you to wear it daily and everywhere, and it is the best quality and made to last forever. It is hypoallergenic and ranges from 10K to 24K. The higher the karat (K), the purer and softer the gold. For jewelry, pure 24K gold is too "breakable"/malleable which is why it is mixed with other metals to strengthen the material. Most jewelry ranges between 12K-18K.
Gold Filled/Gold Fill
Gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold (requires at least 1/20th or 5% of its weight) bonded to a base of some metals. Gold filled jewelry is more tarnish/discolor resistant than gold plated jewelry (vermeil and regular), and with good care they are great for daily wear and last for years. High quality, hypoallergenic, second best to solid gold and is more affordable.
Gold Vermeil
Gold vermeil jewelry has a layer of gold placed (at least 2.5 microns) over 925 sterling silver. Due to the thicker layer of gold plating, gold vermeil jewelry can be worn daily and last for a long time. Hypoallergenic, great quality and more affordable than solid gold/gold filled.
Gold Plated
Gold plated jewelry has a layer of gold placed over some metals. With good and proper care, the jewelry can be worn daily and remain in its high quality condition for a long time. The most affordable option with the widest variety of designs.
Whichever material you select (except for solid gold), there is a strong correlation between the level of care applied to the jewelry and the length it will stay in its original condition. K金是什麽？传承的首选
珠宝店，高级珠宝和古董珠宝中最常见的金属就是 K 金 (Karat Gold)。大多为14K金、18K金，在日本轻珠宝和一些设计师品牌中则也能看到10K金。这些数字其实代表的就是黄金在金属中所佔的比例。
简单来说，黄金，也就是一般所认为的纯金是24K金，而18K金则是代表在金属中黄金佔了18/24，也就是 75%，14K金则是58%，以此类推。而 K 金之所以广为珠宝使用，是因为黄金本身太软，不适合镶嵌鑽石与宝石，在工艺上也有许多限制，所以在制作上透过不同比例的黄金和其他金属，可以创造出更多种变化的可能。
K金作为贵金属的代表之一，没有褪色的问题、碰水等等都是没有问题的。是想要永久配戴、传承最适合的金属选择。
优点：基本上永久不褪色（10k和14k取决于其配方中其他合金的配比，金属活性越高，有可能会变暗或者氧化）因金属的延展性和硬度最适合作为镶嵌与款式复杂的细节表达，没有工艺上的限制

注金/包金是什麽？高持色的质感金属
注金，也被称“包金”。是近年来非常受欢迎的金属新选择，它不易掉色、能有 K 金光则，成为许多设计师爱用的金属。
注金，英文为 Gold Filled，在欧美国家早已被广泛使用。制作的过程较为特殊，是以高温高压将 K 金锻压在金属胎体上（多为铜金属），并且具备一定的K金厚度。一般来说，美国包金有非常严格的标准， 注金会标记 1/20，指的是含金总重为 5%。
注金的优点在于高持色度，不易轻易掉色，可以生活碰水；且相较于 K 金，注金有著相较之下平易近人的价格。如果想可以有各种首饰替换、又想兼顾高质感，注金是轻珠宝爱好者的好选择。
大多数金色调饰品是使用美国进口的14k注金制作，拥有能长久配戴的好品质。
优点：外层为14k金，除非外层磨损露出内芯黄铜才可能出现氧化等情况，使用年限可达10~30年
缺点：只能制作线材与板类，工艺限制极多，无法制作爪镶细节镶嵌等，也无法制作立体形态的造型设计
注金/包金 小熊造型，因工艺限制，造型上只能才用冲压压模，缺乏塑造性
镀金是什麽？亲和价位的珠宝感
镀金（Gold Plated），指的是在金属胎体上透过电镀的方式镀上层薄金，创造出K金色调。许多流行饰品品牌也会选择以镀金的方式呈现金色的首饰，而胎体本身则可能是各类金属，从银、铜到其他合金类型。镀金的好处在于价格便宜却能够制作出真金的高贵质感，因此可以使用在各式各样的饰品样式上与镶嵌上达到珠宝感，是喜欢每季更换饰品的女孩可以无负担的选择。镀金要注意的是避免接触化学物质，并且要经常保持乾燥，以便可以很好的增加使用寿命。
铜 / 银 / 合金铸造件 相比包金工艺的小熊造型，可以做出立体效果与镶嵌钻珠宝感的效果，塑造性高。镀金在造型上可以做到与k金一样的珠宝感优点：可以表现出珠宝感的细致以及细节的处理，塑造性高，造型上没有限制，价位可负担
缺点：镀金是电镀工艺，市面上分成仿金电镀和真金电镀，保色效果取决与电镀材料与厚度

关于线材
